Mario Gotze - Germany celebrates goal

Mario Gotze has declared his intention to stay with Bayern Munich next season, telling German newspaper BILD he wants to play under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian takes over from Pep Guardiola, giving Gotze a new lease of life, having been consigned to the substitute's bench under the incoming Manchester City boss.

Gotze's decision appears to end chances he will sign with Premier League side Liverpool, despite The Guardian reporting recently the Reds were 'confident' they could lure him to Anfield.

Liverpool's ace was new boss Jurgen Klopp, who managed Gotze at Borussia Dortmund, where he enjoyed the best spell of his career.

Gotze scored the winning goal for Germany in World Cup 2014, and is expected to play a part this summer as Germany attempt to win Euro 2016.

Speaking to BILD, he said: "I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to compete in top shape during my first training under Carlo Ancelotti."
