Several changes look set to be made at the heart of the Reds' defence ahead of next season.
The Reds have already secured the services of Joel Matip from Schalke on a free transfer but there are decisions to be made over other players.
Dejan Lovren has shown signs of improvement and looks set to be part of Jurgen Klopp's plans for the next campaign, but there is uncertainty over the future of Mamadou Sakho after he tested positive during a UEFA doping test, and it looks likely that Kolo Toure will not be offered a new contract by the club, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Aldridge was full of praise for Toure in his column, saying: "What he gives you around the place is superb. He’s been brilliant this season and it isn’t hard to see why so many want him signed up for another 12 months.
"There’s still question marks over (Martin) Skrtel, Lovren has kicked on, Matip is coming in, and then we wait to see whatever happens with Sakho."
It certainly looks as if there are going to be some changes at centre-back. One would think with Toure's seemingly imminent departure then it looks likely that it is going to be a position that will see more incomings ahead of next season.
Martin Skrtel's future at the club does not look the brightest as Toure has been selected ahead of him for the bigger games in the closing stages of the season, so it is hard to envisage a future for the Slovakian at the club.
Letting Toure go would let one of the most experienced players in the squad depart the club, and in a relatively young squad that could represent something from Klopp, but it will be interesting to see how things develop in the transfer market when it comes to defenders at Anfield.
