International record: 109 Caps, 51 Goals.

2015/16: It's been a strange season for Rooney. Now 30, he's been used in a number of different positions for Manchester United, from up front to wide on the left, and from the No. 10 role to even deeper in central midfield. It's clear that Rooney no longer has the pace to play up front, and with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford emerging at Old Trafford, Rooney is dropping back a little.

Rooney ended the season with just eight Premier League goals, his lowest tally in a Manchester United shirt. This season was far from Rooney's best, but he ended the season in style with a well taken goal and a sublime assist against Bournemouth, giving fans hope heading into the European Championships.

What can we expect?

Rooney enters Euro 2016 with major question marks above him. The debate hasn't even been so much around what position he should play in Roy Hodgson's starting line-up, but whether he should play at all. Hodgson could go for a diamond in midfield with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy or Daniel Sturridge, giving Rooney a role as a No. 10, but that means a deeper role for Dele Alli, or even leaving him on the bench.

Ultimately, Rooney is England captain and Hodgson is unlikely to leave him out of the side, but his form this season hasn't been great, and younger, more energetic players are coming through for England in positions he would play - meaning fans may not be too happy when he's in the starting line-up against Russia on June 11th. He's still a quality player, but we shouldn't expect to see Rooney playing a starring role as he did way back at Euro 2004.

Should Wayne Rooney be higher on this list? Should he be on it at all?
