Germany's Mario Gotze celebrates with the trophy
After seemingly missing out on Mario Gotze at Bayern Munich, Liverpool should pursue a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg instead.
Liverpool had hoped to add the German to their squad this summer, but it is looking increasingly likely that he won’t end up at Anfield.
In truth, it was difficult to see where Gotze would have fitted into the squad given the number of attacking midfielders that the Reds currently have in their squad.
Admittedly they do have numerous options in central midfield too, but with the likes of Joe Allen, Lucas Leive, and even Jordan Henderson all potentially joining Jordan Rossiter in leaving, they may need additions.

And Hojbjerg could prove to be a smart acquisition for them should that scenario play out.
He can play in both defensive midfield and attacking midfield, offering Liverpool cover in more than one position and alongside Emre Can , could form a perfectly balanced midfield partnership in the Reds midfield.
A current star for Denmark, he is highly rated too, and it has been suggested that he could be better than their star player, Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, before too long.
Germany's Ilkay Gundogan
At just 20-years-old, he also has plenty of development to come and could flourish under Jurgen Klopp, as Ilkay Gundogan did under his leadership at Borussia Dortmund.
In fact, he is keen to leave Bayern Munich this summer to try and continue his progress, and Liverpool could be the perfect place to do just that.
