According to The Telegraph, Manchester City are expected to sign Ilkay Gundogan this week.
The report claims that incoming boss Pep Guardiola has given the thumbs up to signing the Borussia Dortmund man and has told the club to wrap up a deal with an initial £20.1 million outlay.
City are set for a big summer ahead on the transfer front as they look to put a fairly mediocre Premier League campaign behind the, and look ahead to challenging for the title next season.
With Guardiola set to start work at the Etihad Stadium a week on Wednesday, the club can expect a number of changes to the first-team squad to start taking shape in the coming month.
Players such as Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Jesus Navas and Wilfried Bony are very much tipped to leave the club, while one or two big-name additions can be expected to take place.
Whlile many speculate which possible players the club will sign this summer, the first acquisition to kick off Guardiola’s era at the club is looking very much like being Dortmund ace Gundogan.
The German international has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months, and only last month a dislocated knee cap ended his season early and subsequently ruled him out of Euro 2016.
Nevertheless, as reported by The Telegraph, Guardiola wants City to finalise a deal for him early and talks are expected to be concluded with the fee potentially reaching £21.6 million depending on bonuses.
