Aston Villa are stepping up their efforts to secure their next manager.
Aston Villa will look to secure their next manager this week, according to BBC Sport.
Villa have been without a manager since sacking Remi Garde earlier in the season.
They have so far taken their time about appointing his replacement, presumably because they were keen to secure a takeover by Tony Xia first.
With that now completed, they have stepped up the hunt for their next manager and are now seemingly close to making a choice.
According to BBC Sport, Villa interviewed three potential targets last week and will now look to secure one of those by Friday.
Three candidates had been in contention, with Roberto di Matteo, Nigel Pearson and David Moyes those selected.
However, the former Everton and Manchester United boss will not be the next manager having taken himself out of the running for the position on Monday afternoon.
That leaves Pearson and Di Matteo in the running and it will be interesting to see which man the club chooses in the coming days.
The former Chelsea boss had appeared to be the favourite in recent weeks but he has also been linked with Lazio.
