With Manchester United tonight confirming the departure of manager Louis van Gaal, it now seems that it will be Mourinho replacing him in the Old Trafford dugout.
BBC Sport broke the news on Saturday evening that Mourinho, who has been out of work since losing his job at Chelsea in December, will be named as United's manager this week.
Having failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, Mourinho will enter a job knowing that he needs to bring in and sell players this summer - and it seems that some players have already been targeted by Mourinho.
The Guardian report that Mourinho will go on a £150m spending spree this summer, and two strikers appear to take his fancy despite the emergence of Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford in recent months.
It's claimed that Mourinho will target a raid for Juventus hitman Alvaro Morata, who could be bought back by Mourinho's former club Real Madrid this summer before being sold on again.
The 23-year-old striker, who is set to lead the line for Spain at this summer's European Championships, has hit 12 goals and nine assists in an impressive season for Juve, and even scored the winning goal in the Italian Cup final against AC Milan on Saturday.
However, with a host of clubs also keen on Morata, it's also claimed that Mourinho has a backup plan - Inter Milan hitman Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine striker, also 23, has smashed 16 goals for Inter this season, and his exploits in front of goal appear to have caught Mourinho's eye.
Whilst some fans may want to see a big name like Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrive at Old Trafford, Mourinho instead appears to have set his sights on two much younger attackers this summer.
