According to the Liverpool Echo, Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius has arrived on Merseyside to undergo a medical with Liverpool.
The Reds have had continuous problems in goal over the years, as first-choice stopper Simon Mignolet has flattered to deceive since his 2013 move from Sunderland, whilst Adam Bogdan - who arrived from Bolton last summer - looks set for the exit less than a year after joining.
Now though, manager Jurgen Klopp looks set to try and rectify the problem, as a fellow German appears to be edging ever closer to joining the club.
The Liverpool Echo report that Loris Karius has arrived on Merseyside to undergo a medical with the Reds ahead of a £4.7m move from Bundesliga side Mainz.
Karius, 22, was previously on the books at Manchester City having joined the Blues from Stuttgart in 2009, but he lasted just two years at the Etihad Stadium before returning to Germany with Mainz.
Now with almost 100 appearances to his name, Karius is on the move and returning to England, with Klopp raiding his former club to snap up the young goalkeeper, adding competition for Belgian international Mignolet between the sticks.
It's stated that Karius' deal is expected to be finalised by Tuesday evening, and he will join Joel Matip and Marko Grujic in arriving at Anfield this summer - and don't expect to see Klopp's spending end there either.
Are you happy to see Karius join Liverpool?
