Burnley midfielder Joey Barton is on the verge of signing for Glasgow giants Rangers, according to The Scottish Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that the former Newcastle United midfielder has made a verbal commitment to Rangers to join until 2018.
Barton is on the books of Premier League-bound Burnley at the moment, but his current contract with the Clarets runs out at the end of next month.
According to The Scottish Sun, the midfielder will arrive in Glasgow over the next 48 hours in order to compete a medical and sign the contract.
“Joey Barton has given Rangers a verbal commitment to join until 2018,” states the report in The Scottish Sun.
“And SunSport Online can reveal the free agent’s due in Glasgow over the next 48-hours to complete a medical and put pen to paper.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Barton is a very good player and has a successful 2015-16 Championship campaign for Burnley.
The 33-year-old would be a very good signing for Rangers, and his experience would make the Gers a stronger and better team.
Mark Warburton’s side won the Scottish Championship title with ease this past season and will feature in the Scottish Premiership during the 2016-17 campaign.
