Burnley's Joey Barton celebrates promotion to the premier league

Rangers lost the Scottish Cup final on Saturday afternoon, as having led Hibernian 2-1 at Hampden Park, the Gers lost 3-2 after a late collapse.

Hibs took the lead through Anthony Stokes after just three minutes, but striker Kenny Miller pulled Rangers level before the half hour mark.

Andy Halliday's long-range strike put Rangers in front, and they appeared to be heading towards the win before Stokes and David Gray swooped to score headers from corner kicks to hand Hibernian the Scottish Cup.

It was a blow for Mark Warburton, as having already won the Scottish Championship and Petrofac Training Cup, Rangers had the chance to end the season with a domestic treble.

The attention will now turn to the summer transfer window, and the club's move for Joey Barton is dominating the conversation in the blue half of Glasgow.

Barton, 33, travelled up to Glasgow earlier this month to hold talks with Rangers about completing a move to Ibrox, as reported by the Daily Record.

The midfielder is out of contract at Burnley after helping the club win promotion to the Premier League, and is considering a move to sign for Rangers.

After losing to Hibernian on Saturday, a number of Rangers fans took to Twitter in order to send messages to Barton, pleading with him to complete his move to Ibrox.

Supporters think that Rangers ultimately lacked bite and determination in the middle of the park against Hibernian, and believe Barton's signature would solve some of Warburton's tactical problems.

A decision is expected at some point this week, and after receiving a flood of messages from Rangers fans this weekend, he may well be tempted to choose Rangers over Burnley...
