Leeds United's search for a new head coach took a twist on Monday as MK Dons boss Karl Robinson reportedly turned down the role.
SkySports reported that Robinson had held talks with Leeds United's Italian owner Massimo Cellino, but decided ultimately to stick with MK Dons.
Robinson is regarded as one of the game's most promising young managers, but could not help MK Dons avoid relegation to League One last season.
Officially, Steve Evans remains in charge at Leeds United, but his contract is set to expire at the end of June.
The reports do not look good for his future, but Leeds could yet be left deciding he is the best option if their efforts to appoint an alternative continue to be unsuccessful.
Vital time is being spent with the club in a state of limbo heading into the summer, ahead of what promises to be a very challenging season in the Championship next season.
Here is a look at how Leeds fans reacted to the news on Twitter...
Any other ownership situation and Karl Robinson jumps at the chance to manage us. #lufc— Dan Owen (@MOT_DAN) May 23, 2016
Oh. Karl Robinson turned us down after talking to Cellino. That is in no way at all a bit shit and embarrassing. #lufc— Al H (@RevAMol) May 23, 2016
If the Karl Robinson stories are true then Steve Evans should tell Cellino to stuff it, Evans deserves better respect than this. #lufc— MarkT (@Markthd6) May 23, 2016
Imagine the likes of Karl Robinson turning down the chance to manage #lufc this is an indication of what we have become under Cellino— Chris Whitaker (@ChrisWhit81) May 23, 2016
