Hooper initially joined Wednesday on loan from Norwich City while the club were sitting outside the top six, and after impressing at Hillsborough he made his move permanent in January.
It has been a roller coaster of a season for almost everybody involved at Wednesday, and now they are one game away from the Premier League as they take on Hull City in the play-off final next weekend.
Speaking ahead of the Wembley clash, Hooper says he always knew his team could make the top six this season and adds how he is confident the Owls can go all the way.
“I’m very confident that we can do well. As soon as I signed I knew that Wednesday would be able to reach the play-offs,” Hooper was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“We haven’t been out of the top six for a long time and now we go to Wembley looking to finish the job. The final is the best day you can have – so long as you win.”
“Form doesn’t really come into it for a final at Wembley and anything can happen.”
Sheffield Wednesday spent he majority of the opening months on the periphery of the play-offs, yet a superb run of form since the turn of the year saw them cement their place with one game to spare.
After defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 on aggregate over two pulsating semi-final encounters, Hull now stand in their way as they seek to make a long-awaited return to the top flight.
Both encounters between Wednesday and Hull in the Championship campaign this season ended as draws.
