United fans were greeted with the news that Mourinho is poised to take over from Louis van Gaal hours after seeing their team lift the FA Cup at Wembley.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to be named as Manchester United's new boss early next week, bringing an end to weeks of speculation linking him with the top job at Old Trafford.
It marks a relatively quick return to English football for Mourinho, who has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea in December.
The news came shortly after United's FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday, which saw the club earn their first piece of major silverware since the retirement of legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, a failure to reach the Champions League has clearly proved costly to current boss Louis van Gaal, whose footballing philosophy has often been called into question by a number of fans and ex-players.
Given Mourinho's impressive managerial record, there is likely to be plenty of optimism that the good times can once again return to Old Trafford.
And fans were unsurprisingly eager to share their thoughts on Mourinho's reportedly imminent appointment, with the majority hopeful that his arrival will help the club return to the top of English football once again.
I've said it before and I'll say it againl, Jose Mourinho and #MUFC is a force that nobody (rivals) want to see or face.— Jord (@Devildart180) May 21, 2016

We said some 5-6 mths ago that there 'had to be a plan' for Mourinho. Looks as though that is (and was always) the plan. The right decision— Stretford End (@stretford_end) May 21, 2016
