Wilshere was named in Roy Hodgson’s provisional 26-man squad for Euro 2016 last week.
There have been major questions about his selection though, given he has spent the majority of the season out injured.
He will need to prove his fitness in the coming friendlies before the final squad is announced on May 30th.
He went someway to doing that on Sunday afternoon as he started in the Three Lions in the 2-1 win over Turkey at the Etihad.
And writing on Twitter, he was keen to share his delight at making his return for England after a long injury absence.
Felt good to be back in the three lions shirt again, been way too long. Thanks to the fans for coming to support us… pic.twitter.com/0iv1zZUTXa— Jack Wilshere (@JackWilshere) May 22, 2016
It will now be interesting to see if Wilshere is among the final squad that Roy Hodgson elects to take to France with him.
He has seemed intent on having the Arsenal man in his team for the tournament, regardless of his lack of playing time this past season.
As yet his fitness does not appear to be an issue despite that lack of minutes, and they will be hoping that stays the same between now and the summer.
