Report names the Rangers players who were attacked by Hibs fans

Ibrox side Rangers saw a number of its players and staff attacked during Scottish Cup post-match scenes with Hibernian fans.

According to Belfast Live, Rob Kiernan, Andy Halliday, Jason Holt, Lee Wallace and Dean Shiels were among the Rangers players assaulted by Hibernian supporters after Saturday's 3-2 Scottish Cup final defeat at Hampden Park.

Rangers were 10 minutes away from securing the treble, having already won the Scottish Championship and Petrofac Training Cup this past season, when Anthony Stokes grabbed an 80th-minute equaliser, before David Gray netted a last-gasp winner.

Moments after the final whistle, thousands of Hibernian supporters invaded the field, while a number of angry Rangers supporters did the same in a collision which was never going to end particularly well for fans of the Glasgow giants.

But the players also found themselves on the front line of the action and, according to Belfast Live, the likes of Kiernan, Halliday, Holt, Wallace and Shiels were attacked and spat on by Hibernian supporters.

An official statement from Rangers has suggested that the Gers players and staff were also targeted in the post-match madness, condemning the behaviour of Hibs fans for instigating the chaos.
