Report: Everton consider Marc Overmars for Director of Football role

The former Arsenal star is currently the Director of Football at Ajax.

Everton are considering appointing former Arsenal forward Marc Overmars as their Director of Football, reports the Daily Mail.

The Blues are looking to add some stability to their current set up, as the hunt for Roberto Martinez’s replacement at the club continues.

They have already identified club legend Joe Royle as a potential candidate for the role given his affinity with the club.

He currently occupies a role in the youth set up at Goodison Park, working as their professional development coordinator since 2014 and could easily make the step up.

However, Royle is not the only one Everton are looking at and former Gunners star Overmars is another name that has been put forward, according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutchman has built a positive reputation for himself at Ajax in recent years, with his recruitment a particular strong point.

Everton want a man who has knowledge of the transfer market and younger players and Overmars would fit the bill.

Indeed, he could be the first of several Ajax employees to arrive at Goodison Park, with former manager Frank de Boer heavily linked to the job in recent weeks.
