Phil Neville’s response when asked if Emery would be good fit for Everton

Phil Neville - Everton

The Sevilla boss has been linked with the Everton managerial job.

Valencia assistant head coach Phil Neville suggested on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday evening (May 22) that Unai Emery would be a good managerial appointment for Everton.

The former Everton star made the comments in the build-up to the Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid (broadcast from 8pm).

“If you look at the jobs in Spain that he could get, there are probably not many better than Seville,” said Neville when asked if Emery would be a good fit for Everton.

“He is probably thinking, ‘Quique Flores goes to Watford, enjoys his year there, then maybe it’s a good chance for me to go’.

“Everton is a great club and it would be a great opportunity for him, but there are many other managers being linked as well, to be fair.”

According to The Telegraph, Everton will hold talks with Sevilla head coach Emery this week.

The Premier League outfit are looking for a new manager following the departure of Roberto Martinez earlier this month.

Emery is one of the best managers in Europe at the moment and has been hugely successful at Sevilla. The Spaniard has guided the Sevilla-based outfit to three successive Europa League triumphs.

Things are going well for the former Valencia boss at Sevilla, and perhaps he should stay where he is. Sevilla will feature in the Champions League next season and will also aim to finish in the top four of La Liga.
