Glenn Hoddle has written in The Daily Mail that Everton defender John Stones should watch of videos of Chelsea star John Terry in his prime.
Terry is one of the greatest defenders in Premier League history and still remains a very good centre-back.
The 35-year-old remains an important player for Chelsea, and Hoddle believes that Stones should learn from his English compatriot.
“He (Stones) could do worse than look at videos of John Terry at his best,” the former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea midfielder wrote in The Daily Mail.
“Terry is a better footballer than many give him credit for — left foot, right foot, he could deliver a fine pass. Yet he never forgot when or how to defend.”
Stones is a very talented young defender, but he has been criticised by many for taking too much time on the ball in dangerous areas.
Unlike many defenders in the Premier League, the 21-year-old, who can play as a centre-back or as a right-back, is very comfortable on the ball and likes to pass it around.
The England international is still learning and developing, and watching videos of Terry is certainly going to help him do that.
Terry never had pace, but the way he reads the game and makes timely tackles is something that every defender should aspire to.
