England fans react on Twitter to Everton defender John Stones' performance against Turkey

Everton's John Stones

Everton defender John Stones played 90 minutes as England beat Turkey.

Everton defender John Stones’ performance for England against Turkey appears to have drawn a mixed reaction from supporters on social media site Twitter.

Stones played 90 minutes as England squeezed past Turkey in a friendly at the Etihad Stadium.

The Everton defender partnered Gary Cahill in the Three Lions’ defence, which looked a little shaky throughout.

England managed to secure the victory, but they didn’t look entirely assured in the contest.

The Three Lions took the lead early on through Harry Kane, but Turkey hit back quickly and had periods of concerted pressure in the match.

It was left to Jamie Vardy to score the winner in the closing stages, to ensure that Roy Hodgson’s begun their final preparations for Euro 2016 in style.

Stones’ performances in the match drew some praise from some supporters, but other England fans were more critical of the Toffees man. Here is the best reaction on Twitter.

England’s next match comes against Australia, before they face Portugal in their final friendly before Euro 2016 commences.
