Everton have previously been linked with the Olimpia striker.

Reports in Honduras yesterday have suggested that Everton will be keeping tabs on one of the country’s top talents at the Olympic Games in Brazil this summer.

Diez is reporting that Everton will be keeping tabs on the Honduras attacker Alberth Elis at the Olympics and that the player is very excited about a potential move to Merseyside.

Elis is a 20-year-old striker who currently plays his football with Olimpia in his homeland.

Elis played 38 times for the club last season and scored an impressive 21 goals. He is expected to feature for Honduras at the Olympics and Everton will consider a move for the player at the end of the tournament.

However, the report also highlights a major stumbling block for Everton in the hunt for the player. He has not played enough games for the senior Honduras side to qualify for a work permit so would need a special talent dispensation – which could come should he shine at the Olympic Games.

Elis has played for the Honduran national team nine times, scoring three goals.

Everton were linked with Elis previously, the Daily Mail suggesting scouts were watching him.

It seems the departure of Roberto Martinez has not changed that.
