Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Steven Caulker from Queens Park Rangers in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United fans taken to social networking site Twitter to have their say speculation linking the club with a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker.

According to The Shields Gazette, Newcastle interested in signing Caulker in the summer transfer window.

The central defender has been on the books of QPR since 2014, but he was out on loan this past season.

The England international played on loan for Southampton during the first half of the 2015-16 campaign before joining Premier League rivals Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Caulker struggled for playing time for the Saints and the Reds, but Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez wants to sign the centre-back in the summer, according to The Shields Gazette.

The centre-back was rated as very promising and talented when he was young(er), but his time at QPR so far has been far from great.

The England international is unlikely to feature in Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s plans next season, and perhaps he needs to leave Loftus Road on a permanent basis in the summer in order to rediscover his form.

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the speculation linking Caulker with a move to St. James’ Park in the summer.
