The Rangers transfer target certainly seemed to enjoy the fixture.
Rangers are said to be in touch with Joey Barton over a potential move to the club and Ibrox boss Mark Warburton has confirmed this interest – as reported by the BBC.
Rangers were in action today as they aimed to pick up their third trophy of the season. They faced Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park. Goals from Kenny Miller and Andy Halliday proved to not be enough as a 90th minute goal from Hibs captain David Gray and a terrific brace from Celtic loanee Anthony Stokes earned the Edinburgh side a momentous Scottish Cup win.
Throughout the game Rangers target Barton was tweeting about the game and had this to say about Miller, Halliday and Stokes as the side he could join went down 3-2 in a fantastic game of football:
Real test for this Rangers side now...— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) May 21, 2016
What a strike. Atmosphere rocking at Hampden.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) May 21, 2016

Stop listening to the commentators hysterics mate. Looked like Hibs fans ran on the pitch and towards Rangers to me? https://t.co/bhHUq6vlqo— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) May 21, 2016
Barton has had a brilliant season at Championship side Burnley, where he was named the club’s Player of the Year and made it into the division’s Team of the Year.
Rangers are heading back to the Scottish Premiership for next season and would love a player of Barton’s experience and quality to help them battle Old Firm rivals Celtic for the title.
Based on the evidence of their cup final defeat, a little bit of edge in midfield would certainly be welcomed at Rangers from next season.
