Rangers are not interested in signing Daniel Bentley from Southend United in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.
According to a recent report in The Southend Echo, Rangers are among four clubs interested in the 22-year-old goalkeeper.
Championship side Brentford and Premier League duo Burnley and Bournemouth are also claimed to be interested in the youngster.
The Daily Record, though, has dismissed that speculation, but it has stated that Rangers manager Mark Warburton wants to sign a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.
“We told you we’d get back to you on that report of Rangers being interested in Southend keeper Daniel Bentley,” states the report in The Daily Record.
“Well, from what we’re now being told it’s a load of nonsense. Mark Warburton IS in the market for a new goalie, but it won’t be this lad.”
Bentley is a highly-rated and young goalkeeper who has been linked with moves to Premier League clubs.
Back in March, The Sun reported that Everton, Norwich City (now relegated to the Championship), Watford and West Bromwich Albion were monitoring the youngster.
Rangers will take on Hibernian in the final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.
The Glasgow giants have won the Scottish Championship title and the Scottish Challenge Cup this season.
