Manchester City hand new one-year deal to defender Plummer.
Highly-rated Manchester City defender Ellis Plummer has agreed a new one-year deal at the club.
Plummer, who joined City's academy from Stockport in 2006, is highly-regarded by the club's hierarchy.
The 21-year-old, who can play as a central defender or at left full-back, has yet to make a senior appearance for City, but he has been a regular in the Elite Development Squad for the last couple of seasons.
The talented defender has had two previous spells out on loan from City, spending a month at Oldham Athletic in 2013, where he made four appearances, and last season he joined Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a season-long agreement.
Plummer impressed during his loan stint at St Mirren, making seven appearances for the club before City cut short his stay.
Plummer's existing deal was due to expire next month, but the club have moved to tie him down to a new one-year contract.
City are likely to try and send Plummer out on loan again next season to get valuable first-team action under his belt and a number of Football League clubs are thought to be weighing up moves for the defender.
