West Ham star Reece Oxford hits out at 'fake' reports he wants £40,000 per week plus £1m bonus

Reece Oxford v Francis Coquelin: Head to Head: Comparing the West Ham and Arsenal players: 20150810

West Ham's Reece Oxford has denied the latest claims regarding his transfer negotiations.

West Ham talent Reece Oxford is the subject of more speculation over his fufure, with The Sun reporting he wants an excessive salary.

The report claims 17-year-old Oxford wants a weekly wage of £40,000 per week, as well as a signing on bonus of £1 million, amid interest from Manchester City.

Oxford made three Premier League starts in 2015/16, plus a further four appearances from the bench.

The teenager was quick to respond to the reports, using his Twitter page to dismiss the claims as 'fake'.

The talented youngster became an overnight sensation last August when he kept Mesut Ozil quiet and helped West Ham to an opening day win over Arsenal.

Since then he has been used sparingly by Slaven Bilic, who is looking at the long term view of not wanting to burn out the youngster, and letting him develop in the under-21s.

The danger is that he could get impatient, and West Ham want a show of commitment beyond his current deal which expires in June 2018, and there is only one way for Oxford to make the rumours go away: Put pen to paper on a new contract extension.
