Current incumbent Alberto Moreno had a horror-show against Sevilla last night.
Liverpool were defeated in the Europa League final last night, going down 3-1 against Sevilla after a fantastic second-half display from the Spanish side secured them their third Europa League trophy in a row.
Plenty of Liverpool players struggled in that second-half, including Player of the Year Philippe Coutinho.
But the man who has received the bulk of the blame has been Alberto Moreno.
The Spaniard, a former Liverpool player, was atrocious in the second period, and was lampooned by many after the game.
Liverpool certainly need to bring in a player who can actually defend at left-back this summer and one option they might consider is a player who has been relegated with Aston Villa.
That may sound initially like madness, considering Villa’s terrible campaign, but Jordan Amavi would be a great option.
The Frenchman looked to be a real star for Villa early on and was looking like one of the early contenders for signing of the summer.
Strong in the tackle but also potent going forward he is perfect for the needs of Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.
He missed the majority of the campaign with a knee injury, so he cannot take much blame for Villa’s dreadful season.
The Birmingham Mail has reported that Villa want around £9 million for the player should he decide the Championship is not for him. With his return from injury imminent, Amavi might be a great addition to the Liverpool cause.
