According to a report on Sky Sports, Damien Comolli has not had any contact from Aston Villa, and does not consider the Midlands club to be interested in him.
Comolli was touted as a potential addition to Villa’s backroom team, as they reshuffled their staff around following relegation.
The Claret and Blues have made dramatic alterations at boardroom level, and they had reportedly identified Comolli as a potential addition for the post of technical director.
The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur recruitment boss would have been in charge of transfers at Villa, but he apparently has had no contact from the newly relegated Championship side’s prospective owners.
Villa are currently undergoing a takeover bid headed by Dr Tony Jiantong Xia, but the Chinese businessman has not made any attempt to recruit Comolli as yet.
Villa are expected to be very active in the summer transfer window, but it does not seem that putting Comolli in place has been made a priority.
Dr Tony Jiantong Xia’s takeover of Villa is expected to go through once it receives ratification from both the Premier League and the Football League.
