Report: Beppe Iachini, wanted by Massimo Cellino for Leeds United job, agrees Udinese deal

The former Palermo manager is set to be officially unveiled today.

Leeds United are being linked with plenty of managers at the moment, as rumours continue to abound regarding the future of current manager Steve Evans.

It is looking like Massimo Cellino is set to change things up in the management role and that would see Evans depart, despite meeting the targets set for him by the maverick Italian.

There has been chatter that Cellino will go for a foreign coach and one who has been mentioned is Giuseppe Iachini.

TuttoMercatoWeb reported last week that Cellino had enquired as to Iachini’s potential interest in taking over at Leeds this summer.

Iachini was most recently head coach at Palermo in a season in which he was fired, rehired and he resigned from his role.

However, despite the rumours of Iachini getting the role at Elland Road, it looks as though he will be heading elsewhere.

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Iachini is set to take over at Udinese.

Football Italia report several sources as suggesting Iachini will be appointed later today. The reports claim Iachini has decided to sign a one-year deal with Udinese, owned by the Pozzo family of Watford fame, to take over from Gigi De Canio.

If this was indeed Cellino’s first-choice it looks as though he will have to start looking elsewhere.
