Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to rumours Lee Tomlin could join them

Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a £3 million offer for Bournemouth forward Lee Tomlin.

Newcastle United have had a mixed reaction to the rumours that Lee Tomlin could become Rafael Benitez’s first signing at St. James’ Park.

The Sun claimed yesterday that Newcastle were lining up a deal worth £3 million for the Bournemouth attacking midfielder.

Tomlin has been on loan at Bristol City this past season, where he has been hugely impressive.

The 27-year-old has also proven his quality in the Championship with the likes of Peterborough United and Middlesbrough previously.

Some Newcastle fans believe that Tomlin would be a good addition for them, but others were hoping for a more high profile addition.

Tomlin is likely to leave Bournemouth in the summer, as he has struggled to break into Eddie Howe’s team.

The Cherries have retained their Premier League status, and they have strengthened their attacking ranks considerably, leaving Tomlin’s route to the first-team blocked.

If Tomlin did move to Newcastle, he would be competing with the likes of Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic for a place in the team.
