Former Premier League star praised Liverpool defender Kolo Toure.
Former Chelsea ace Michael Essien praised Kolo Toure for his 'outstanding' performance for Liverpool against Sevilla.
Essien, who played against Toure in the Premier League on several occasions, also praised both teams, insisting Unai Emery's Sevilla deserved their win.
Unlucky Liverpool lost but Sevilla put up some great performance in the 2nd half and deserve to win,but Kolo Toure was outstanding 2nite— Michael Essien (@MichaelEssien) May 18, 2016
Toure was lining up in central defence alongside Dejan Lovren, a centre-back partnership which is not really of a standard expected to win a major European trophy.
The 35-year-old Ivorian international was likely starting in his last European final, and to come away without a winner's medal will be highly disappointing.
On the night he won five aerial duels, more than any Liverpool defender, while also making a staggering 17 clearances - with Lovren closest with 10.
He made three interceptions, which was actually bettered only by defensive scapegoat Alberto Moreno, who was frequently caught out of position.
