The 23-year-old playmaker has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Speculation is rife that the 23-year-old is top of manager Jurgen Klopp's shortlist (The Star) of pre-season recruits, having previously worked with the talented German at Borussia Dortmund.
The Germany international, who has one year to run on his Bayern deal, is expected to leave the Allianz Arena following talks with new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Can and Gotze are team-mates at international level, and the powerful midfielder admits that he'd love to see the diminutive schemer on Merseyside.
"I'd be very happy if Mario were to decide in favour of Liverpool," Can told Sport Bild, via ESPN. "Everyone knows what a great footballer he is and what qualities he has.
"He obviously lacked a bit of confidence at Bayern recently, but that's just normal when you are not winning game time."
Gotze would be quite a coup and one which would worry Liverpool's rivals. After all, he and Klopp did such wonderful things at Signal Iduna Park together and Liverpool fans would hope to see the same magic on their shores.
He did abandon Klopp somewhat to join Bayern in 2013 in a move which hasn't really worked out, but his talent is undeniable and Gotze in the Premier League is an exciting prospect to say the least.
