Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has responded to speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and a confirmed bid from West Ham United by telling the Bournemouth Echo: "I am a loyal person".
Wilson enjoyed a flying start to life in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals in his first seven games - including a hat-trick against the Hammers at Upton Park - before suffering a knee ligament injury which ruled him out until April.
Despite his severely hampered campaign, his early goalscoring exploits have been enough to spark interst in him this summer, and Cherries boss Eddie Howe confirmed earlier this week that the club have already received a bid worth upwards of £20 million for the striker and winger Matt Ritchie.
Wilson has also been heavily linked with a move to Spurs and admitted that he was naturally flattered by the interest, and although the 24-year-old suggested that he considers himself loyal, he did not explicitly lay out his desire to stay at Vitality Stadium.
The striker told the Bournemouth Echo: "I am a loyal person. I am grateful to Bournemouth for giving me the opportunity to play at a high level in the Championship. We had a good season last year and got promoted and then I got my chance to play in the Premier League.
"I want to maintain that for as long as possible. Because I had been out for six months, I didn't take much notice of it [transfer talk].
"I had just come back from injury and then, all of a sudden, I was being linked with clubs. It was a bit unrealistic. You take confidence from your name being linked with big clubs."
Bournemouth will be desperate to hang on to Wilson, who along with Ritchie is one of the club's most prized assets, as they look to consolidate themselves as a Premier League club after surviving their first ever top-flight season.
However, at just 24 years old and a raw English talent, the striker is likely to attract considerable continued interest, and the Cherries will have to remain strong throughout the summer to safely negotiate the window.
