Aston Villa provide positive injury update on Jordan Lyden

The Aston Villa youngster limped out of the final day defeat to Arsenal.

Aston Villa have provided a positive injury update on young star Jordan Lyden, via the club’s official website.

Lyden picked up a thigh injury in the final Premier League game of the season, a 4-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates.

There were fears it could prove to be a bad one for him, and ultimately rule him out of the beginning of next season.

Indeed, a report from the Birmingham Mail had suggested that he could be set to miss up to ten weeks as he recovered from a torn quadriceps muscle.

However, more detailed analysis of the injury have revealed it to not be as bad as first feared and the official website reports that the club hopes to see him fit for the start of their Championship campaign.

The news will come as a big boost to the Villans as they vie to make a quick return to the Premier League next season.

They look set to rely heavily on their youngsters for that campaign, and Lyden, who is the Under 21 captain, would surely be among those competing for a place
