Sunderland have stayed in the Premier League after a dramatic end to the Premier League season. One of their key players recently has been Tottenham Hotspur loanee DeAndre Yedlin.

The USA international has played a vital role in their recent good form and looks a bright spark for the future at White Hart Lane.

Speaking to Goal USA this week he discussed his future and spending tie away from Tottenham on loan. He clearly does not seem to mind heading out on temporary deals, as it has not exactly had a detrimental impact on the career of Spurs star striker Harry Kane.

Yedlin stated:

“Sometimes that’s all you need, is a year of playing, that little bit of confidence.

“You look at Harry Kane, two years ago coming back from loan and playing, he comes back to Tottenham and absolutely kills it and is now England’s No. 1 striker.

“Confidence is a funny thing, and sometimes that’s all you need is just that little bit to elevate you to the next level.”

Kane spent plenty of time away from Spurs on loan. He was with Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City – all with varying degrees of success – before becoming a goal machine at Tottenham and for the England national team.

Yedlin, who has an abundance of talent and the physical attributes to play at this level, will of course hope his time at Sunderland and any subsequent loan spells help him follow in the footsteps of Kane going forward.
