Former Nottingham Forest striker praised Derby's performance.
Derby County produced a valiant effort as they sought to bounce back from a nightmare play-off semi-final first leg.
It was not quite enough to send the tie into extra time, with Derby's season ending on a high note, wondering what might have been.
Their performance drew praise from pundit Stan Collymore, who took to Twitter to acknowledge their close call.
Played well tonight. Good effort. https://t.co/Ox3fy84hqH— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) May 17, 2016
Collymore is though not a popular figure among Derby fans due to his Nottingham Forest connections, and he was summarily told his opinions hold little regard.
The striker responded in antagonistic fashion, showing his allegiance with a Forest chant.
Honestly Ramcast, and I mean this with every fibre of my being: Uuuuureeeddddds! https://t.co/fzBpDgbzv4— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) May 17, 2016
Forest and Derby took points off each other this season, winning one game each, with the Rams victorious in their most recent encounters.
Both clubs are likely to be looking for new managers this summer, with Derby in a stronger position than Forest after finishing in the play-offs, while the Reds' end of season form saw them end the campaign in 16th place.
