According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Swansea City are interested in signing Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend.
Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship has seen a number of their players linked with moves away from St. James’ Park.
The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Sissoko and Ayoze Perez have all been tipped to leave Newcastle in the coming months, and it seems that Townsend is also in demand.
Townsend was one of Newcastle’s top performers towards the end of the campaign, as he blasted in four goals after signing from Tottenham Hotspur in January.
His strong run of form forced him into the provisional England squad for Euro 2016, and Swansea are now considering a move for the 24-year-old.
Swansea are unsure over the future of Jefferson Montero, and they see Townsend as a possible replacement. The Welsh side are also believed to be looking at Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond.
Townsend has made 13 Premier League appearances for Newcastle to date, and it is still unknown whether he will be willing to remain with them after their relegation.
