The Newcastle United striker is already at his dream club, according to the man himself.
The 21-year-old hitman, a £13 million signing from Anderlecht last summer (BBC), endured a mixed first season on Tyneside, netting nine times in 34 Premier League appearances as he looks some way off justifying the hefty fee paid for him.
Having said that, there is a sense that the Championship might be a step down for the Serbian marksman and a whole host of his Newcastle team-mates, throwing their futures into the air somewhat ahead of their stint in the second tier.
However, Mitrovic has suggested that he does not plan on leaving United any time soon, noting that it's his dream to play for this club rather than Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United.
"At the moment I am living my dream in Newcastle," he told Blic Sport, via Soccerway. "I hope to be at the club for many years and become a legend.
"Of course many children are dreaming to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United. I always just wanted to wear the jersey of Partizan, Newcastle and Serbia."
Will he become a legend? Early evidence suggests that he has a ways to go; not only in regards to his goalscoring, but also his temperament.
Mitrovic, known as something of a hot head from his time in Belgium, received two straight red cards this past season and, like Diego Costa, his mentality can and will be exploited by opposition defenders unless he cools the jets.
