Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as joking with Adam Lallana about a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Klopp saw his Liverpool side crumble in the Europa League final this evening, as after leading 1-0 at half time against Sevilla thanks to a Daniel Sturridge goal, Sevilla hit three second half goals to win 3-1.
It's a blow for Liverpool, but Klopp will now have the summer to mould his squad, with players no doubt coming and going - and speculation surrounds one player in particular.
The Sun recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen to land Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana in £20m deal, reuniting in the process.
Pochettino and Lallana worked together at Southampton, and with Spurs seeking more creativity in the final third, 28-year-old England international Lallana is reportedly a top target for Pochettino.
Ahead of tonight's Europa League final, Lallana was interviewed by the Liverpool Echo, and their report shed some light on a conversation between Klopp and the midfielder.
It's claimed below that Klopp joked about selling Lallana to Spurs, bringing up that Lallana needed to know when Spurs started pre-season training - but it's clear that the playmaker won't be leaving Anfield this summer, judging by Klopp's willingness to make light of the speculation.
“What are you doing here?” Klopp asked.
“Speaking about you!” Lallana said.
“Ask him if he knows when Spurs start pre-season training?” Klopp joked in a reference to recent speculation linking the England international with a summer move to White Hart Lane.
“Too late, we have already spoken about that,” Lallana responded.
“I asked him and he said July 1,” Klopp said before descending into laughter.
“I thought you were being serious,” Lallana insisted.
“Are you crazy!” Klopp added before heading back out the door.
Do you think there's any chance of Liverpool selling Lallana to Spurs?
