Furious Liverpool fans tear into Alberto Moreno after second-half display in Europa League

The Reds left-back might want to stay off social media for the next few days.

Liverpool fans have left it in absolutely no doubt who they are blaming above all others for their second-half collapse in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

Heading into half time a goal up thanks to Daniel Sturridge's superb strike, the Reds looked a complete different side in the second half and conceded an equaliser just 17 seconds after the restart.

Midfielder Coke then scored two fine goals to ensure that the Merseyside club lost a second major final under Klopp and will miss out on European football next season.

After the match, former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson highlighted Alberto Moreno as a key weak link for the Reds, and the club's supporters appeared to agree with his assessment.

The Spanish left-back, who was born and raised in Sevilla and spent the first nine years of his youth and senior career at the La Liga club, was not alone in putting in a torrid display in Basel, but he was perhaps one of the worst offenders.

He was beaten all ends up after his own tame defensive header for his former side's first goal, and he offered the bare minimum of resistance for the second goal.

Moreno has been a wildly inconsistent player for the Reds for the majority of his two years at Anfield, and for many Liverpool fans his abject display on such a big stage was the final straw.

Here are some of the cleaner tweets from fans on the Spanish full-back's performance.
