Video: Jordan Henderson scores stunning goal during Liverpool training session

The Reds skipper will hope to replicate his training exploits if selected for Wednesday's Europa League final.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson insists he is not expecting to start Wednesday's Europa League final, but he'll have done his chances no harm with this stunning goal in training on Tuesday.

After some fine build-up play from Daniel Sturridge, Henderson collected the ball with his back to goal before unleashing a curling effort which was deflected into the net via the far post.

The Sunderland-born midfielder, who was named in Roy Hodgson's prospective England squad for the European Championships, has played only 26 minutes of football since early April, when he was ruled out with torn knee ligaments.

Emre Can, James Milner, Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen will compete with Henderson for a starting place against Sevilla, though the 25-year-old is not expected to be risked. Jurgen Klopp's men know that victory in Basel will propel them straight through to next season's Champions League group stages following a year's exile from the competition.

However, defeat to the Andalusians, who've won back-to-back Europa League titles, would leave the Reds out of Europe entirely, having suffered their joint-lowest placed finish in Premier League history.
