Arsenal legend Thierry Henry said on the Premier League 15/16 Season Review show on Sky Sports 1 on Monday evening (broadcast from 6pm, May 16) that West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet added consistency to his game this past season.
Payet joined West Ham from French club Marseille in the summer of 2015 and took the Premier League by storm.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a productive 2014-15 campaign with Marseille, but this season he has taken his game to a new level.
Former Arsenal striker Henry believes that what changed for Payet this season was his ability to be consistent.
“He was at Marseille, doing what he had to do, but he wasn’t consistent with it and efficient with it,” the former France international star said on the Premier League 15/16 Season Review show on Sky Sports 1 on Monday evening (broadcast from 6pm, May 16) when asked why no one had heard about Payet until this season.
Payet scored nine goals and created 116 chances in 30 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season.
The Frenchman had a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 55%, and won two headers, 67 dribbles and 16 tackles.
The attacking midfielder would have ended the 2015-16 Premier League campaign with even more impressive stats had he not suffered an injury.
