Report: Southampton and Manchester City consider move for Denis Zakaria

Etihad Stadium

Premier League duo Southampton and Manchester City are plotting a move for BSC Young Boys youngster Denis Zakaria, according to reports from Blick.

Zakaria joined BSC Young Boys from Servette FC for a fee of around just £200,000 last summer and the transfer has proved to be a huge bargain for the Swiss giants.

The young midfielder was a mainstay in the Young Boys midfield over the course of the campaign and his contribution proved to be crucial in helping the club earn a credible second place finish in the Swiss Super League.

As a result of his fine performances, it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing a number of clubs across Europe expressing their interest in signing Zakaria and now according to reports emerging out of Switzerland, Premier League duo Southampton and Manchester City have allegedly joined in the race to sign the teenage sensation.

Swiss publication Blick have revealed that both the Saints and the Citizens are keen on a move for Zakaria while the likes of Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Zakaria has a contract at Young Boys until the summer of 2019 and interested clubs will surely have to fork out the big bucks in order to land the 19-year-old over the summer.
