Benitez has been a huge hit at St. James’ Park since arriving in March, leading them on a late survival bid.
That was ultimately fruitless, as Newcastle were relegated to the Championship when Sunderland beat Everton earlier this month.
It is now unknown whether the Spaniard will stay at the club beyond this summer given that he has a well publicised break clause in his contract.
Recent reports hint he could be tempted into a stay, and Round says that the Spaniard is the best manager they can get at the moment.
“Newcastle need to get everything in order first,” he told Sky Sports. “Rafa is probably the best manager they can get at this moment, he’s worked at the highest level for a long time.”
Newcastle would certainly be confident of making a quick return to the Premier League next season should Benitez agree to stay.
He has transformed the side since his arrival and a longer spell in charge would surely bring in even more positive results for him.
It will be interesting to see how he will fare though given he has no experience of the division, having spent the majority of his career competing at the top end of Europe’s leagues.
