Steve Round says Everton star John Stones faces a big transfer window

The Everton defender has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports, broadcast on May 17, former Everton assistant manager Steve Round says Blues star John Stones is facing a big transfer window this summer.

The young central defender has had a difficult season at Everton, initially starring for them before coming under intense scrutiny following several high profile mistakes.

They have not done anything to lessen the transfer speculation surrounding him though, with numerous reports linking him to an exit this summer.

He was courted by Chelsea last year, and reports this year have suggested that incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen on a deal.

And when asked which player is facing the biggest transfer window, Round answered that for him it will be Stones.

“For me it will be John Stones,” he told Sky Sports.

“There have been a lot of rumours about him; Everton will no doubt want to keep hold of him. It’s going to be a big window to see whether Everton decide to sell or whether they manage to keep hold of him.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Everton can keep hold of their star men this summer given the speculation surrounding them.

Stones is not the only player being linked with an exit, as Romelu Lukaku’s performances this year have also reportedly caught the eye of Europe’s elite.

The good news for Everton though is that they have the players on long-term deals meaning they are under no obligation to sell at this point.
