Benitez is looking increasingly likely to stay at Newcastle United next season.
Benitez has been a huge hit at St James’ Park since his arrival in March, as he led them on a late bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
He did not manage to achieve that though, as they were relegated to the Championship following a dismal campaign.
Their exit from the top flight raised questions about his future, with it well known he has a break clause in his current deal.
At first it had appeared he would leave, but now it seems he is set to stay at the club beyond this summer.
And according to the Daily Mail, the former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss has already drawn up a list of transfer targets for the upcoming transfer window.
In an attempt to keep Benitez at the club, owner Mike Ashley has handed full control of transfers to him, the first time he has done so with any manager.
Chief among his plans will surely be improving the struggling defence, with that area of the team having once again failed to impress this past season.
