The Arsenal star played more key passes than anyone else this past season.
The German was impressive throughout the first half of the season as he racked up the assists while his team mounted a serious title challenge.
The second half of the campaign did not go as smoothly however, as he and his team both struggled for form as their title run fell away.
It was ultimately a frustrating year for Ozil, who had looked set to comfortably equal and then beat Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a season.
Instead he ended with 19 to his name, just one short of the tally that the iconic Frenchman set.
While he failed to do that though, he was still comfortably the most creative player in the division across the season.
|Team||Season||Total Att Assist||Goal Assist|
|Dimitri Payet||West Ham||2015-2016||119||12|
It was not the only area he dominated in either, as he managed to make more key passes than anyone else in the Premier League.
He managed 146 across the season, putting him far ahead of anyone else this year.
His closest rival was West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet, who registered 119, while Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen was third with a tally of 115.
Indeed, Ozil’s tally was the highest in the Premier League for the last four years, which is some achievement, although he is unlikely to be celebrating after a trophy-less year at the Emirates.
