Newcastle have been relegated from the Premier League, after what has been a highly disappointing season.
Wijnaldum has been one of the North East side’s better performers, though, and West Ham are reportedly keeping tabs on the Dutch international.
The Hammers have expressed a desire to start competing for a place in the top four, and they are expected to invest heavily in their squad during the summer transfer window.
Wijnaldum is reportedly one of the targets on their wishlist, as Slaven Bilic’s side aim to improve their attacking options.
Wijnaldum finished the season as Newcastle’s top scorer, after netting 11 goals.
The 25-year-old also played in every one of Newcastle’s Premier League matches, which proves his high fitness levels.
West Ham have also been linked with the signing of Andros Townsend from Newcastle in recent weeks (Guardian).
