Report: Liverpool and Spurs battling for AC Milan's M'Baye Niang, will scout him this weekend

M'baye Niang

Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly keen on AC Milan forward M'Baye Niang.

According to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool and Tottenham will be scouting AC Milan forward M'Baye Niang in the Italian Cup final this weekend.

Niang, 21, was one of the hottest prospects in Europe during his time at Caen, and after five goals and three assists in 30 games, he joined AC Milan in 2012.

At just 17, the Frenchman had already joined one of the biggest clubs in the world, but spent time out on loan at Montpellier and Genoa having failed to hit the ground running at the San Siro.

This season though, Niang - who can play out wide or up front - has hit eight goals and four assists, enjoying best season for Milan, even if he has missed playing time after being involved in a car crash back in March.

Now back to fitness, Niang is in contention to play for Milan against Juventus in the Italian Cup final this weekend - and he may have Premier League teams watching him.

Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will both send scouts to watch Niang in action ahead of possible moves for him in the summer transfer window.

It's claimed that Liverpool have already offered to swap Mario Balotelli - currently on loan at Milan - for Niang, but that offer has been rejected by the Italian side.

Meanwhile, Spurs need to add some attacking support for Harry Kane, and adding the pacey, powerful Niang could be a smart option for Mauricio Pochettino - if he can impress on his return against Juventus this weekend.
