The Spaniard enjoyed a very successful season with the Championship side.
Gary Rowett believes that Jon Toral's successful loan spell at Birmingham proves that the Midlands side are a good club for players with potential to come to to develop their game further, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The 21-year-old was one of the Blues' most impressive players this past season, scoring eight goals from attacking midfield which meant that only Clayton Donaldson scored more times in the Championship.
And with the Spaniard now returning to his parent club Arsenal with the hope of making an impression in the first-team at the Emirates - while Demarai Gray recently earned himself a Premier League title medal having traded Birmingham for Leicester in January - Rowett suggested that his side is the place to come if a youngster wants to reach the next level.
"Without us extolling the virtues that we've got as a club, I think we're a good place to be and I think we get the best out of people," he told the Mail.
"Jon will have enjoyed the environment I'm sure and the way we've tried to push him to bigger and better things.
"Primarily we're talking about a boy that has got a really big future, whether that's in England or back in Spain at some point in the future, such is his technical ability."
The way that Toral and Gray have moved their games on with the Blues may not exactly benefit the club now that they have moved on, but it should send out a positive message to some of the top flight clubs that sending a promising youngster to Birmingham will prove to be a worthwhile move.
And that should strengthen the side's hopes of competing around the top six next season, even if they must do it without two of the players that helped put them in contention this past season.
