Despite spending a lot of money during the transfer window and boasting a very strong squad on paper, Newcastle United were unable to avoid relegation to the Championship this season.
It is certainly a shame that a club as big as Newcastle will not be in the Premier League next year and many believe that the Magpies could well find it tough to earn promotion immediately, with a host of key players expected to leave over the summer.
As a huge sense of relief for the fans though, star striker Ayoze Perez recently told the Chronicle that he is staying put at St. James’ Park.
When asked if he would be at Newcastle next season, Perez had replied: “Yes of course. I am with the team, I am with this city and I am with everybody. I want to be here to fight for the team and to come back. We need everybody to be together and be like a team.”
After confirming his desire to remain at Newcastle, Perez has now gone on to deliver a heartfelt message to the fans through social media website Twitter, where he has thanked them for the support throughout the campaign and has also pledged to guide the Magpies back into the Premier League.
Newcastle know they have a tough fight ahead of them but Perez has the potential to play a key role in ensuring next season is everything this campaign was not.
